STILL HAVE A DREAM!
The flashiest, most colourful lifestyle event of the year is coming up. On
8 August 2009, the Street Parade will be rolling across the asphalt of Zurich.
This year, the Street Parade is celebrating the 18th Parade with the
slogan «STILL HAVE A DREAM», a dream from birth to majority that the
founders probably never though possible.
The dream has come true – and – the dream of the meaning and message of this unique event is far from over. We still have dreams of creating unique experiences with the Street Parade, dreams of making people dance peacefully and without violence to electronic music, dreams of taking the event on to a place where peace, joy, generosity and tolerance reign. Let's have more dreams! A dream gives strength and hope, and can change the present as well as the future. And so STILL HAVE A DREAM is a call to believe in the future, and to work on it together.
«I have a dream» was the title of the impressive speech given by civil rights leader Martin Luther King in August 1963 before 250,000 people at a peaceful demonstration. King spoke out against oppression and in favour of social justice, and preached a message of non-violence. Who would ever have believed that 45 years after this speech, a young hopeful by the name of Barack Obama would emerge for America and the world?
This was a long time before the birth of the Street Parade, but it has been fighting for the same goals for 18 years. Thousands of people – no matter what their religion, skin colour or sexual orientation – dance to electronic music that allows everyone to be together peacefully and without violence. Together, the visitors will live the dream of another sensational, peaceful Street Parade in 2009!
The Street Parade is a demonstration of love, peace, freedom and tolerance. Thousands of different people of all types dance to electronic music and love being with each other in peace and harmony. Let us enjoy this unique day in a spirit of friendship!
